Corporate History

a. hartrodt was founded as an International Freight Forwarder in Hamburg/Germany in 1887. The ever increasing export trade of German manufacturers exporting quality products around the world required the establishment of a new service industry in the ports along the North Sea. At that time Arthur Hartrodt recognised this trend and became one of the pioneers of modern freight forwarding.

Since then it has been a family enterprise, dedicated right from the beginning to international forwarding and logistics and operating independently on a world-wide scale. Today a family partnership owns the world-wide organisation.

Based on a strong economic growth a. hartrodt expanded continuously and today operates 11 independent offices in Germany alone, offering the whole spectrum of international freight and transportation knowledge, which also includes airfreight and project handling. Alongside the expansion of a. hartrodt in Germany several offices were also opened in Europe, which are all well integrated into the local transportation environment and being able to provide expert forwarding services.

One of a. hartrodt's prime objectives in doing business has always been to know the requirements of its customers and to be as close as possible to the client. With the trade patterns changing it became obvious that it would be necessary to also establish offices abroad to look after customers overseas. To facilitate this company objective a vast international expansion took place during the post-war period. Today, a. hartrodt operates a world-wide network of own offices and joint ventures on 5 continents ably assisted by reputable partners. Thus enabling a. hartrodt to serve their world-wide customers on the highest possible service level.

a.hartrodt Malaysia Sdn Bhd was founded in 1983 as a wholly owned subsidiary of a.hartrodt (GmbH & Co), Hamburg with the support and commitment of the whole a.hartrodt Group of Companies. a.hartrodt Malaysia Sdn Bhd is a member of the a.hartrodt network and ensures that the a.hartrodt commitment to quality in freight forwarding and logistics services are also available to clients in Malaysia.

a.hartrodt Malaysia Sdn Bhd through his daughter company a.hartrodt Air Services Sdn Bhd is holding a customs license for airfreight customs clearance since 1987 and for sea freight customs clearance since 1992. We are operating our own offices in Port Klang, Petaling Jaya and at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

We are committed to provide first class forwarding and logistics services and to develop international integrated systems to the full benefits of our customers.

Independence
The a.hartrodt group is an independent privately owned organization. Freight forwarders deal with sensitive documents such as commercial invoices, it is important that no parent company of any industrial group has access to freight forwarding data. Our independence guarantees our customers neutrality in all areas of the transport handling and storage of data.
